Xylitol

A sugar replacement

XYLITOL looks, feels, and tastes similar to sugar and, unlike other sweetener alternatives, leaves no unpleasant aftertaste.  It is a sweet, crystalline carbohydrate that occurs in wood, woody plant parts, and in virtually all fruit products.  It is completely natural and absolutely safe for human consumption.

Sugar is acid forming and Xylitol is alkaline enhancing.  All other forms of sugar, including sorbitol, another popular alternative sweetener, are six-carbon sugars, which feed dangerous bacteria and fungi.
Xylitol  is a five-carbon sugar which bacteria cannot digest, preventing their growth and resulting in no acid formation.  With no acid production, the bacteria cannot attach to the teeth and cannot dissolve enamel.  The bacteria are simply flushed off the teeth down the digestive tract.

While sugar wreaks havoc on the body, Xylitol heals and repairs.  Xylitol is the good sugar and we can now treat dental disease with sweets and chewing gum.  100% Xylitol-sweetened products used several times each day reduces caries and bacteria causing gum disease.  It stimulates saliva, enhances remineralisation, and reduces bad breath.  Xylitol is also produced as a normal chemical process in the human body.
